Private family beta

Your information in Bruce.

Bruce helps an invited family organise everyday life. Woody is the family organiser and manages access.

What Bruce keeps

These records support the features you use and help protect access. Family chat is visible to invited family members. Child sign-ins are limited to family chat; adult household records and Money are restricted separately.

Storage and protection

Saved records are held on Bruce’s hosted service, using Railway. Connections to Bruce use HTTPS. The service processes message contents, so family chat is not end-to-end encrypted. This beta does not provide an encrypted passport or identity-document vault.

The app contains no advertising or behavioural tracking tools. Hosting providers may process connection and security information needed to operate the service. Browser sign-in information is kept on your device; signing out ends that session.

If you test Bruce through TestFlight, Apple collects crash reports, information about app use and feedback you submit, and shares these with the developer to help improve the beta. See Apple’s TestFlight information.

Location and notifications

The iPhone app’s optional location preview shows this iPhone on an Apple map. It does not upload coordinates to Bruce, keep a location history or share your location with the family. Apple supplies the map services. The preview pauses and clears when you leave it, pause it or put Bruce in the background.

Browser notifications use Apple, Google or Mozilla’s push service for the device. Alerts say “New family message” or “A household reminder is due”, without message or task contents. Household reminders go to the assigned adult’s authorised devices. The native iPhone beta currently offers a local notification test; native remote alerts are not connected.

WhatsApp and Ask Bruce

WhatsApp sharing is manual. You choose a message and destination before sending it through WhatsApp or another sharing app. Bruce does not read or synchronise your WhatsApp group. A saved group invite link is visible to your invited family.

Ask Bruce is not connected in this beta. Enabling it requires sending the separate assistant conversation and selected adult planning information to OpenAI. Family chat and financial records are not included automatically.

If AI analysis is enabled and you choose it for a school note, that note’s title, text and added time are sent to OpenAI to prepare a draft for your review. You can make a plan manually without AI.

Keeping and removing information

Saved household content has no automatic deletion schedule. Completing a task, archiving a note or signing out does not delete it. The organiser handles requests to remove accounts or records manually; backups may retain copies until those backups expire.

You can pause location, change iPhone permissions and switch off browser notifications. To request a copy, correction or deletion of your information or account, contact the family organiser. These requests are not completed automatically by this page.
